When will Aura have neo4j 4 ?
Aura will soon be using the latest version of neo4j 4, and we'll notify users through the console when it's available.
The value of the Aura platform is that you don't have to worry about minor release versions. We take care of that and will make sure you are always on the latest minor release by upgrading your databases automatically to new minor version with no downtime, impact or interruption to you.
When Aura has neo4j 4, will Aura support multiple database on a single instance ?
Initially Aura with neo4j 4 will not have the multi-database feature enabled.
Multi-database will be available in the future within all appropriate Aura database sizes, with guardrails aligned with the resources you chose to pay for, to ensure adequate performance of any "multi-databases" you create within that initial database.
We want to make sure that our user's experience of multi-database is a great one in Aura, and we've listened to, and learnt from our on-prem customers who have used it extensively.
There are only so many resources to go round in a 1GiB Aura instance, so our guardrails won't allow the creation of 100's of databases within a 1GiB Aura database, for example.
If you are making design decisions around developing with the multi-database feature in Neo4j 4, using Aura, get in touch and we can help you with your planning.
