When will Aura have neo4j 4.x or 5.x ?
Neo4j 4.x and 5.x is now available for new AuraDB Instances in the console.
The value of the Aura platform is that you don't have to worry about minor release versions. We take care of that and will make sure you are always on the latest minor release by upgrading your databases automatically to new minor version with no downtime, impact or interruption to you.
Will Aura support multiple databases on a single instance ?
Initially Aura with Neo4j 4.x or 5.x will not have the multi-database feature enabled.
Multi-database will be available in the future within all appropriate AuraDB Instance sizes, with guardrails aligned with the resources you chose to pay for, to ensure the adequate performance of any "multi-databases" you create within that initial AuraDB Instance.
We want to make sure that our users' experience of multi-database is a great one in Aura, and we've listened to, and learned from our on-prem customers who have used it extensively.
There are only so many resources to go around in a 1GiB Aura instance, so our guardrails won't allow the creation of 100's of databases within a 1GiB AuraDB Instance, for example.
If you are making design decisions around developing the multi-database feature in Neo4j 4.x or 5.x, using Aura, Please submit a support ticket with us so that we can help you create a feature request.
